Dinner Party Diaries – Volume 1: Issue 8
I don’t know about you, but I think it’s time for spring. Around here that means that the bunnies that live under our back yard start popping out and giving the cats some window entertainment. Inspired by such things, I declare that we need to have a spring themed dinner party, which I hereby dub a Hoppy Bunny Dinner Party. 🙂 Yep, I’m exactly that eccentric. If you haven’t already figured that out from reading this blog, stick around; it will quickly become obvious.
What, you might ask, belongs on the menu of a “Hoppy Bunny Dinner Party”?
I’ll say that this spring themed dinner party has an Easter vibe. However, really that’s because there is some fairly arbitrary classification that combines lamb, ham, deviled eggs, and carrot desserts into “Easter” food. Since I happen to like all of those foods, I’m more than happy to use that as a starting point for a dinner party. I’ll just riff on it from there.
In thinking about this menu, I wanted to include ideas that can run the gamut from a small-ish spring themed dinner party to dishes that you could take to a larger family party. In my family, we’re all about the food. However, I can usually only slide in one or two “new” recipes per party. I save my experimentation for our friends. So the recipes below are a little bit of both types.
To start off this menu, I have deviled eggs threes ways–Ham, Chipotle, and Cheddar; Italian; and Manchego Curry. Then, for the main, there is a perfectly done Sous Vide Leg of Lamb with Mustard and Cumin Seeds, using a recipe from Serious Eats. For sides, some simple but delicious roasted Brussels sprouts and an Asparagus Souffle Frittata from How Sweet Eats. Finally, we finished it off with a quick and Easy Keto Carrot Cake.
