Dinner Party Diaries – Volume 2 Issue 3 – Dinosaur Themed Dinner Party

Themed dinner parties can be a lot of fun.  They also provide the opportunity to go all-in on a theme or to just lightly give a nod to said theme.  For this particular Dinosaur Themed Dinner Party, I focused my attention on the food.  Dinosaur decorations abound across the internet, so I won’t go down that rabbit hole.  Instead, here are some dinosaur themed recipe ideas that give a bit of a grown-up twist on what I most usually see as kid-focused foods.  After all, sometimes grown-ups are just tall kids.  🙂

I needed this menu to be completely prepared in advance for reheating or to use ready to eat supplies.  To accomplish this, I’m using some store-bought, ready-to-eat items, some super simple to make dishes, and two more involved recipes that can be completed prepared in advance and just reheated for serving.

We’re starting things off with some easy appetizers.  First, we have a trio of dips accompanied by vegetable dippers.  I used Buffalo Chicken Dip and Bacon Ranch Cheddar Dip from the store as well as this Scallion Olive Cheese Dip.  To round out the appetizers, I added my Bacon-Wrapped Low Carb BBQ Hot Dog Bites.  They’re always a crowd favorite.  You can get creative and call them “T-Rex Bites” or something to that effect. 

For dinner, we had a fun composed dish with my Ranch Cauliflower Chia Cakes on the bottom as the “Dinosaur Bed” topped with Sautéed Garlicky Spinach for the “Dinosaur Bedding” and finally a full-sized Gluten-Free Dinosaur Chicken Patty on top.  For dipping sauce options, I set out Sugar Free Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce (my favorite of the bunch), No Sugar Added Ketchup, and Ranch Dressing.  Along with this, we also served Broccoli Caesar Salad with Keto Garlic Pepper Croutons.  

We wrapped things up with some Gluten-Free Dinosaur Blondies (Lower Carb) for a thematic dessert treat.  Some of my Keto Cake Batter Dip with Keto Cinnamon Chips also made an appearance just because they’re delicious and a hit with a crowd.  See below for the full menu, pictures, recipes, and grocery list.
