I’ve been a huge fan of pisco for well over a decade after spending a good chunk of time in Chile. It has a unique flavor that can create some truly spectacular cocktails. These Sugar Free Blackberry Pisco Sours make a fun twist on the classic Pisco Sour. In addition to the great flavor, I confess I’m also a fan of the fun purple color. I suggest considering it for an addition to a Halloween party.
What You Need to Make a Batch of Sugar Free Blackberry Pisco Sours
Equipment
- Large Pitcher or Jug
- Measuring Cups
- Measuring Spoons
- Tall Spoon or Spatula – For Stirring
Ingredients
- Pisco – Pisco is a grape brandy popular in Chile and Peru. I typically find it at my local liquor store. To keep things simple for batch cocktails, I start with a whole bottle and measure the other ingredients to match that quantity.
- Monin’s Sugar Free Blackberry Syrup – You could also select another Blackberry Drink Syrup of your choice. Because of the sweetness of the syrup, it takes the place of the simple syrup found in a traditional pisco sour.
- Lime Juice
- Woodford Reserve Spiced Cherry Bitters – While you could use regular bitters, I like the extra flavor from these Spiced Cherry ones.
Getting Started with Making Sugar Free Blackberry Pisco Sours
This batch cocktail recipe is super easy to make.
Measuring Ingredients for a Pitcher
Around here we like to keep things simple, so when mixing up a batch, we use a whole bottle of Pisco and adapt the other ingredients to match. In this case the only additional ingredients are Monin’s Sugar Free Blackberry Syrup, Lime Juice, and Woodford Reserve Spiced Cherry Bitters.
Since a bottle of Pisco is 750 milliliters, to this you’ll add 375 milliliters of Monin’s Sugar Free Blackberry Syrup. In volume measures, this is 1.5 cups + 2 teaspoons. Then stir in 250 milliliters (1 cup +1 teaspoon) of Lime Juice and 2 teaspoons (~10 milliliters) of Woodford Reserve Spiced Cherry Bitters. You’ll want to stir thoroughly.
Mixing the Cocktail
Most often, we mix this up in advance and store it in the fridge until we’re ready to serve. You’ll want to wait to add ice until serving. I put the ice directly in the glass and pour the cocktail over it. That prevents the possibility of the batch getting watered down. This batch usually makes 12 servings in rocks cocktail glasses filled with ice.
