There are some dishes for which you really want to add a flavorful cheesy note but need the format to be more manageable than cheese crumbles.  I don’t know about you but I get annoyed when they fall off of my food.  My solution is to turn the flavor into a cheesy sauce like this delicious Blue Cheese Drizzle.

Blue Cheese Drizzle in a serving bowl

What You Need to Make a Blue Cheese Drizzle

Equipment

  • Measuring Cups
  • Kitchen Scale
  • Small Saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Rubber Scraper
  • Induction Burner – Completely optional.  However, if you have one, this sauce is a nice time to use it.

Ingredients

  • Heavy Cream
  • Blue Cheese
  • Kosher Salt – Optional to taste.
  • Ground Black Pepper – Feel free to adjust to taste.

Getting Started with Making Blue Cheese Drizzle

Since the point of this sauce is really to make a flavorful accent for other dishes, this recipe runs pretty simple.  We want the consistency to allow for spooning, drizzling, or squeeze-bottling it.

Making the Drizzle

We’ll start by placing 1 cup of Heavy Cream in a small saucepan.  If you have an induction burner, this is a fine time to use it.  We’ll bring it just to a boil, then drop the heat and add in 4 ounces of Blue Cheese.

Then we’ll stir it until the cheese has melted and the sauce is smooth.  After that we can add ¼ teaspoon of Ground Black Pepper, taste and adjust with additional pepper or kosher salt if needed.

Keeping the Blue Cheese Drizzle Warm and Serving

You’ll want to keep this sauce warm until you’re ready to serve it to keep it smooth.  Once it cools, it will thicken up.  Though still tasty when thickened, you can only drizzle it if it stays creamy.  I just cover it with a piece of aluminum foil and stick it in the oven on Warm (170°F – 180°F).

To serve, I suggest either placing it in a dish with a small ladle like you would gravy or using a squeeze bottle with a wide tip.
